This evening the Cincinnati Agile Roundtable and Ohio, Indiana, Northern Kentucky PHP Users Group (affectionately known as OINK-PUG) had a joint meeting to hear about GLASS. We had a dozen or so present, several of whom were actively using Rails on existing projects. They were interested in MagLev, but found Smalltalk and Seaside to be intriguing. At times a few seemed to be paying more attention to their iPhones or laptops than to me, but I discovered later at the social hour that they were Twittering about the possibility of using Seaside on an existing project. With the active discussion, the 90-minute presentation took over 2-1/2 hours, and there was another hour of active discussion at a local eatery. (At 11 PM the staff turned up the music and started sweeping under our table, so we moved out to the parking lot!)
This visit winds up this week’s tour. If you are interested in having a GLASS presentation at your user’s group, please send email to James dot Foster at GemStone dot com. I’m hoping to be in the Raleigh area the week of October 12.

James, thanks for the great presentation last night. You’re expertise was really valuable. I’m excited about the prospects, and am thankful to be part of a team that will soon be developing a GLASS project from the ground up.
